As a medior BackEnd Software Engineer, you have at least 2-5 years of experience in creating designs and codes for back end software applications :
– You comprehend the functional design, based on the functional specifications;
– You draw up the program structure based on the technical design;
– You create and execute tests cases, and modify existing programs for production;
– You design related changes to be updated in the design document;
– You conduct self & peer code review;
– You resolve the assigned incidents and defects and track to closure;
– You execute technical integration testing of the application in relation with interfacing applications.

Financial Markets is the bank’s connection to the global financial markets. We have the largest dealingroom in Brussels and we are also represented in London, Prague, Bratislava and Budapest, … The bank’s dealingroom is a dynamic environment where foreign exchange, equity, bond and derivatives transactions are concluded and processed. This processing is done through sophisticated business processes and ICT systems. Organized in several subteams, the BIIO Markets organization (Business and ICT) develops, manages and supports a wide range of applications and processes for both the Bank and foreign branches.In the BIIO organisation, business and ICT colleagues work closely together. The customers are all application users: the dealers and traders in the Front Office of Brussels, London, the foreign branches, the Back Office and the users in other support services of the bank.
This vacancy specifically focuses on strengthening the team co-responsible for the functional and technical support of application Sophis, mainly used by our traders in the London markets room that focusses on equity and equity derivatives business (also called the European Equity Desk). You will analyze, develop, test, document and support changes to this application. Your place of employment will be Brussels where you are required to work on site according to the applicable internal bank rules. Next to that, you will mainly provide support for the system Sophis, used by the bank’s European Equity Desk. Including all interconnections, associated workflows, processes and products. You participate in or lead projects or contribute to them from your expertise. Think of process and business analysis, setting up workflows, parameterization, programming, application testing, change implementation and training of and with users. You program in C# to contribute to or realize E2E implementations yourself. Furthermore, problem solving, documentation, maintenance and support in an agile context for the software package, with extra attention to performance, quality and security is also an important part of your tasks.
Your Qualifications:
• You have experience with computer science and technology. In particular, a good knowledge of object-oriented programming (C#, C++, Java) is required. Knowledge of SQL (Oracle DB), Python … is an asset.
• You are curious about the users of our application, our business and IT processes. Your strong analytical skills and learning ability help you to quickly gain insight into them.
• You have an interest in financial markets (equity and equity derivatives, market making, pricing and valuation models, …). Experience within financial markets is an asset, but not a must.
• You look for qualitative solutions that meet the set requirements while ensuring the continuity of existing processes and systems.
• You are eager to learn, innovative and team-oriented.
• You have a fluent interpersonal style and you are strong in written and oral communication in English, and preferably also in Dutch. No problem for you to adapt your conversation style to your interlocutor, from IT expert to business stakeholder. This is an important aspect of constructive cooperation with all your colleagues.
