Cybersecurity Architect

Project Background
This assignment is part of a Framework Contract supporting cybersecurity architecture, data protection, risk management, and secure system design within Frontex operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and propose secure architecture aligned with organisational strategy
• Develop cybersecurity architecture addressing security and privacy requirements
• Produce architectural documentation and specifications
• Present high-level security architecture to stakeholders
• Establish a secure environment across the development lifecycle
• Lead development, integration, and maintenance of cybersecurity components
• Analyse and evaluate cybersecurity posture of organisational architecture
• Conduct security reviews to assure architecture integrity
• Collaborate with security stakeholders and IT teams
• Evaluate impact of cybersecurity solutions on architecture and performance
• Adapt security architecture to emerging threats
• Perform market analysis and proof of concept validation for solutions
• Integrate new solutions within existing security frameworks
• Align cybersecurity strategies with business objectives
• Monitor technological trends and ensure compliance with standards
• Recommend improvements and ensure ongoing optimisation of solutions

Required Profile & Qualifications

• Advanced-level Cybersecurity Architect profile
• Minimum 10 years of IT professional experience
• Minimum 8 years in similar role
• Strong expertise in cybersecurity architecture, risk management, and data protection
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and technical teams
• Leadership in design and integration of security solutions

Education & Experience
University degree (Level 7 – Master’s or equivalent)
Minimum 10 years of IT relevant professional experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in similar position

Technical Knowledge

Mandatory:

• Cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and methodologies
• Secure development lifecycle
• Security architecture models and solutions
• Cybersecurity risks, threats, and controls
• Legal and regulatory compliance practices
• Privacy-enhancing technologies (PET)
• Requirements analysis and architecture design
• Security-by-design and privacy-by-design principles

Desirable:

• Knowledge of emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies
• Advanced understanding of organisational risk context and mission alignment
• Experience with cryptographic models and access control techniques
• Proven ability to design resilient architectures and lead integration efforts

Language
Working knowledge of English (C1 or higher required)

Engagement Terms
Freelance-based engagement
Full-time (40 hours/week), flexible hours negotiable
Initial 220 working days (+ additional extended working hours), with potential extensions up to multi-year engagement
