Project Background
The assignment focuses on supporting cybersecurity operations within an EU agency environment. The role contributes to the protection of IT systems, services, and infrastructure, including device protection, privilege management, Zero Trust architecture (ZTNA), system administration and integration, and evaluation of systems through proof of concepts.
The consultant is expected to operate within a structured cybersecurity framework, ensuring secure implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of security controls and solutions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide cybersecurity-related support to users and customers
- Integrate and ensure proper operation of cybersecurity solutions
- Securely configure systems, services, and products
- Maintain, monitor, and upgrade cybersecurity infrastructure
- Implement cybersecurity procedures, controls, and policies
- Monitor performance and effectiveness of security controls
- Document and report on the security posture of systems and services
- Support definition, design, and implementation of IT security solutions
- Apply patches and manage vulnerabilities in systems and products
- Participate in security reviews, audits, and compliance activities
- Monitor security events, alerts, and incident responses
- Recommend and evaluate security tools and improvements
- Design, configure, test, troubleshoot, and upgrade cybersecurity components
- Collaborate with IT teams, architects, and engineers on security-related matters
- Define and translate high-level security requirements into technical solutions
- Maintain documentation, operating procedures, and configurations
- Investigate and resolve cybersecurity system issues and incidents
- Ensure service continuity in line with defined service levels
Required Profile & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of systems development life cycle
- Knowledge of operating systems and network security
- Understanding of security controls and practices (offensive and defensive)
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and standards
- Experience in ICT roles related to information security administration or specialist functions
- Knowledge of vulnerabilities, threats, penetration testing, and risk analysis methodologies
- Knowledge of ISO 27000 standards, SANS CIS controls, and OWASP standards
- Good understanding of network protocols (SMTP, NTP, DNS, LDAP, DHCP, PKI/CA)
- Practical experience with security testing and Identity and Access Management solutions
- Ability to integrate and configure cybersecurity solutions in enterprise environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder interaction skills
Education & Experience
University degree
Minimum 8 years of IT professional experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position
Technical Knowledge
Mandatory:
- Operating systems security

Engagement Terms
Freelance-based engagement
Full-time (40 hours/week), flexible hours negotiable
Initial 220 working days, with potential extensions up to a total of equivalent workload over 48 months
