Freelance Opportunity: Solution Architect in support of OPS Portfolio
Location: Near-site Warsaw (Poland)
1. DESCRIPTION OF THE TASKS
- Design of Strategic and Operational ICT Standards and Architectures:
- Analyze the legal framework and identify/address legal requirements.
- Analyze and evaluate current ICT solution architectures.
- Develop and maintain roadmaps, guidelines, and standards for ICT solutions.
- Produce architectural documentation and specifications.
- Present architectures of ICT solutions to stakeholders.
- Lead the development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise common-use ICT components and services.
- Collaborate with security personnel and other teams in applying architecture and cybersecurity principles.
- Adapt ICT Solutions Architectures to emerging threats.
- Perform market evaluation to identify appropriate ICT solutions.
- Contribute to the definition of the architectural blueprint and integrate new solutions with existing frameworks.
- Collaborate with ICT Architecture team members.
- Identify issues and risks related to ICT solutions.
- Provide support and guidance for alignment of ICT solutions with overall Enterprise Architecture in Frontex.
- Provide expertise and support for development of Enterprise Architecture Framework in Frontex.
- Report on activities performed.
- Provision of Solution Architect Services for ICT Systems and Projects:
- Apply ICT strategic and operational standards and architectures in specific projects/ICT systems.
- Prepare (or support in preparation) solution architecture and design (including security architecture and design) for specified ICT systems.
- Prepare (or support in preparation) solution component and domain models.
- Provide advice regarding design and validation of internal and external interfaces.
- Prepare (or support in preparation) deployment models, hardware sizing, capacity, and performance models.
- Run architectural and design workshops with business, ICT stakeholders, and other contractors.
- Prepare (or support in preparation) proof of concept, mock-ups, navigations, UI or functional, and technology prototypes.
- Conduct market analysis, market studies, and technology evaluation reports.
- Prepare (or support in preparation) and maintain Solution Architecture Document and Technical Design Document.
- Analyze and optimize architecture/designs/implementation of specific ICT systems (including data and component model, database design, data warehouses, or data marts organization).
- Prepare (or support in preparation) and document architectural and software design findings.
2. Specific Expertise
- Has performed role of key architect in development of at least 2 software systems (one, in the case of the basic profile)
- Expert in systems architecting in the relevant domain
- Expert in designing enterprise level software systems
- Expert in planning capacity and security of the systems
- Holds excellent technical knowledge about: databases, application servers, communication, middleware, web servers, GIS services, directory services, systems security on Microsoft platforms, business intelligence concepts, systems integration and Integrated Development Environments
- Expert in designing in UML
- Expert in software development methodologies, lifecycles and artefacts like RUP, ISO12207 and agile methodologies
- Is proficient in using systems modelling tools like Sparx Enterprise Architect, Aris Architect or others
- Presents excellent communication skills
- Holds ability to document effectively
- Presents problem solving skills
- Presents leadership skills
- Has knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of containerized applications, preferably on Red Hat OpenShift platform
- Has knowledge and experience in designing and implementing reporting systems
- Has knowledge and experience in designing and implementing human capital management (incl. worktime, workforce management) systems
- Has knowledge and experience in optimization of architecture/designs/implementation of ICT systems
3. Certification and Standards
- At least 1 certifications among:
- Master level certificate in a relevant software development technology domain or in architecting software solutions
- TOGAF Cert
- Certified UML Professional certificate at foundation level or an equivalent certification recognized internationally
4. Service Delivery
Near-site. The Contracting Authority may request regular or ad hoc presence at their premises or other designated locations for up to 12 man-days per quarter. The requested presence shall have a minimum duration of 2 man-days per request. If the consultant’s country of residence is Poland, the requested regular or ad hoc presence shall have a minimum duration of 1 man-day per request.
