Network Specialist Virtualization

Project Background
The Client requires an Advanced-level Network Specialist Virtualization to support the administration, monitoring and continuous improvement of enterprise network infrastructure, including virtualized network environments. The consultant will contribute to ensuring high availability, performance and security of networking services across LAN, WAN, cloud, and data center domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor and troubleshoot IP networks
• Manage structural cabling systems
• Perform changes in physical and logical network configurations, including installation/removal of devices and cabling
• Provide 2nd line support to system and network users
• Create and maintain technical documentation and operating procedures
• Advise on improvements, changes or upgrades to network infrastructure

Required Profile & Qualifications

• Very good understanding of TCP/IP protocols and IP routing
• Very good understanding of Ethernet switching protocols
• Good knowledge of network services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.)
• Good understanding of wired and wireless access technologies (Wi-Fi, 802.1x/EAP)
• Understanding of authentication and encryption mechanisms (HTTPS, SSL/TLS, PKI, X.509)
• Hands-on experience with network devices (Cisco routers/switches, firewalls, wireless controllers)
• Experience administering large enterprise networks
• Knowledge of endpoint network configurations (Windows, Linux, iOS)
• Experience with traffic filtering (stateful/stateless)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills (technical and non-technical)
• High attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
• Proactive attitude and team-oriented mindset
• Physically fit for technical duties (e.g. rack mounting, cabling)
• Ability to travel occasionally within Europe (up to 15 trips/year)
• Valid Category B driving license

Education & Experience
University degree
Minimum 5 years of IT professional experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position

Technical Knowledge

Mandatory:

• Cisco CCNA or VMware Network Virtualization certification (or equivalent)
• Very good knowledge of VMware NSX-T platform
• Strong understanding of VMware ESX networking (distributed switching, routing, micro-segmentation)
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto next-generation firewalls and Panorama
• Experience managing Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches

Desirable:

• Knowledge of other virtualization platforms (e.g. Nutanix, Proxmox)
• Knowledge of network-level encryption (IPsec, IKE, DMVPN)

Language
Working knowledge of English (B2 or higher)

Engagement Terms
Freelance-based engagement
Full-time (40 hours/week), flexible hours negotiable
Initial 220 working days, with potential extensions up to a total of 220 + 220 + 220 + 250 days over approximately 50 months

Security Requirements
Certificate of Good Conduct (not older than 3 months)
