Project Background
The assignment supports software engineering and digital transformation initiatives within the Software Factory domain. The objective is to provide architectural leadership, establish engineering standards, and ensure alignment of enterprise-wide software development practices, including DevSecOps and cloud-native architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultations in software engineering areas
- Act as a trusted technical advisor
- Design software development lifecycle and processes
- Review and recommend end-to-end software solution architectures for complex projects
- Own and evolve the engineering vision across the Software Factory
- Define architecture standards, reference architectures, and best practices
- Ensure consistency and alignment of architectures across the enterprise
Required Profile & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of software architecture for complex distributed systems
- Proven experience designing enterprise-scale and cloud-native architectures
- Hands-on development experience (e.g. .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Strong DevSecOps expertise (CI/CD, containers, orchestration, platform engineering)
- Ability to define and communicate architecture vision and technical strategy
- Experience evaluating technical risks and making high-impact decisions
- Experience mentoring senior technical professionals and architects
- Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Education & Experience
University degree (minimum EQF Level 7)
Minimum 8 years of relevant IT professional experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
Technical Knowledge
Mandatory:
- Software architecture design for complex and distributed systems
- Enterprise-scale and cloud-native architecture design
- Backend/frontend development technologies
- DevSecOps practices including CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration
- Enterprise architecture governance and technical leadership
Desirable:
- Strong understanding of architecture styles
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure services
- Experience modelling systems in ArchiMate notation
Language
Working knowledge of English (B2 or higher)
Engagement Terms
Freelance-based engagement
Full-time (40 hours/week), flexible hours negotiable
Initial 220 working days, with potential extensions up to a total of 990 working days over 54 months
